Why is the Multiplus II cheaper than the old one?

My head is spinning after reading what I can find. The new model used to be more expensive? Is built cheaper? Has unresolved software bugs that are not in the “old” Multiplus?

We are switching from a 12V to a 24V house bank on a boat so need to buy new and make a decision. 24/3000 buy the new or the old? I plan to buy two for single phase parallel operation.

Monitoring of non-PV DC generation through CCGX

This has been mooted as a possible new feature for some time. Is there any prospect soon? I have three systems that could do with this, or a better work around than the 'Has DC System' fudge.

SmartSolar MPPT 75/15

I have just received a SmartSolar 75/15 MPPT.

I made a close examination of the charger and noticed a pen marking of a P on one rear corner (see photo).

Next I looked at the screw connections and they were not new. Discolouration on the PV and Batt screws plus deformation of the screw slots (see photo).

So before I install it, are these defects normal for a new product from this company?

New Victron Product - Lithium SuperPack Battery

Hello Victron Community,

I am trying out something new, and if it works, it could be a regular thing.

Victron is launching a new product, and in the spirit of the community I would like to give you all an opportunity to ask any questions that you might have.

This gives you a chance to learn about something first, and also helps us to improve the initial documentation with some of the things that people might like to know that we haven’t thought about yet.

The product is called the Lithium SuperPack battery.

The big difference between this range and our other ranges is an integrated BMS and safety switch. No additional components are needed as the internal switch will disconnect the battery in case of over discharge, over charge or high temperature. Simple and safe.

The SuperPack range comes in 5 sizes – 20, 60, 100 and 200Ah at 12.8V, plus a 25.6V 50Ah.

They can be connected in parallel without limit. But not connected in series.

They are rated for 2,500 cycles to 80% depth of discharge at 25°C

Charge voltages, current capacities and full specifications are listed in the datasheet:

So, are there any questions?

Orion TR Smart Non Isolated - No Consistent Output Voltage - Can't charge battery

I've recently installed the Orion-Tr Smart 12/12V-30A Non-Isolated DC-DC Charger between my starter battery and house Lithium. This is on a sailboat with shore power connected to the Blue Smart IP22 Charger 12V /30A connected to the starter battery as well. For testing purposes I've removed the starter battery from the circuit and set the Blue Smart to output 14.7v to the DC/DC charger.

The issue I am currently having is that the Blue Smart charges the battery without issue when connected directly to the house (not a long term solution) but the DC/DC charger will not charge at all. When connected to shore power the Blue Smart outputs without issue and I can see the input reading on the DC/DC is correct. However the DC/DC output reading briefly shows the house battery reading of 11.1v (its drained) and then cycles through the following
"Off - Charger is Disabled" - 5-10 seconds
"Off - Remote input inactive" 1-2 seconds
"Bulk Charge" - inconsistent and max 0.5 seconds

I've rewired the setup twice now and double checked the connections between the DC/DC and the main battery post (2 feet) as well as the shared negative and both are seated correctly. I've also removed the remote input jumper, unscrewed and reseated the wires, and double checked the volt reading at the output level wasn't fluctuating with a multimeter.

I've disabled engine start detection as i won't be starting the engine for some time.
Firmware version - DC/DC 1.0.6

It's probably worth noting that I have this setup because my starter is AGM and my house is Lifepo. Different charging profiles required this.

Unforutnately my distributor had no idea what to do in this case. Here is a short video of what i can see. Any help is much appreciated.

Is a Quattro 2 Imminent

Planning to use a larger Quattro (8000 or 10000) with BYD Battery LVL 15.4kW. Given the introduction of the Multiplus 2, is the Quattro 2 also due for an upgrade. If so are there any planned dates?

CANvu GX & IO Extender: what if I need 5 meters between them?

Hello, Community Folk~

My application is on a "dry" cabin instead of a damp boat. The project will be 48v nominal on the battery side. First, I wish to know the length of the standard connection cable from the IO Extender to the CANvu display.

Next I wish to know if an extension cable is available--maybe I don't need five meters between the two units but kindly address the question as if I do. (I can't get in to measure for several weeks.) Acknowledged that energy to run the touch screen must run through the cable so I'm sure there's a limit relating to that.

If an extension cord is not available, can one splice the factory cable longer without major brain damage? How many wires & what approximate gauge? Clearly this would be my last resort but the splices would be in a dry location & I can solder fairly well.

Thanks in advance~

version smart battery protect
