I just got another "No Data Alarm"
This means my 4G router has to be reset....which for me means flying across the ocean or bugging somebody to drive 30 -50 minutes to my boat
SO
is it possible to program one of the relays to reset when there has been a 'no data alarm"
I do think the Venus reboots after it can not get a connection? Can that be used with one of the relays to reset the router?.

Hi,
I am about to order a bunch of victron pieces to rebuild a boat electrical system. I want to get all the data connection equipment ordered, but I am not an expert at all in the VE direct versus VE Can versus VE Bus etc
planned layout as below.
BMV-712 and Digital Multi Control at the helm. Also ethernet connection to Lowrance HDS unit
Inverter Charger, 2 x SmartSolar, smart shunt and Cerbo CX on electrical board approximately 7 metres away.
Can anyone direct me to a good source of information on this, or provide a short summary of what should connect to what with what type of cable.
thx

Hi.
This problem has been happening to us relatively often in our sites for the last 3-4 months. At least 5 or 6 times, each time of different systems. Suddenly the Venus GX lose communication with the inverters despite the inverters are running and powering the load, there is no data on the remote console on the inverter side
[image]
How to solve the issue is quite simple, we reboot the Venus GX and straight away there is data on the console. So, seems like the problem is on the Venus device and not on the Inverters
[image]
Obviously, this is not something we can do manually every time that there is a problem and if there is no signal on site, there is no way we can solve the issue so I hope this issue is addressed on upcoming firmware updates.
All these GX devices are running v2.60 and the inverters on which this have happened were running different firmwares 475 and 430.
Is there any kind of watchdog feature that could reboot the Venus if it is not seeing data from the inverter? if there is not, I think that would be an interesting feature to add on. I am seeing this feature on the GX manual but I dont think this is what I am looking for:

Could this be a hardware issue? If we upgrade to the new Cerbo GX that has a more powerful CPU and more RAM, would it be less likely to get this crash? or might it be a pure software issue?

I have here a sqlite3-database file, which comes from my ColorControl-GX device (logging on the SD memory card).
Now I want to convert the data from the database into an Excel-file. For this I use software "VictronConnect" in the current version 5.34 and proceed according to the following description (see section 5.5):
https://www.victronenergy.com/live/victronconnect:start#importing_and_converting_a_gx_product_family_database_file
Now I get an error message that the database file is larger than the limit of 524288000 bytes, which is exactly 500 MegaByte (524.288.000 Bytes / 2^20 = 500 MB).
Enclosed some screenshots - with v5.33 also tried with the same result.
Is this an error in the "VictronConnect" software?
Or is it an error in the firmware of the CCGX (VenusOS V2.53) that files larger than 500 MB are created? Consequently, new database files would have to be created when reaching the 500 MB database size.
My question now is, how can I convert the sqlite database file >500MB into an Excel file?
Thanks in advance.
Best regards,
DaKy

In German:
Titel:
https://www.victronenergy.com/live/victronconnect:start#importing_and_converting_a_gx_product_family_database_file

Siehe nachstehenden ScreenShot:

Warum ist das so? Was mache ich falsch?
Ich hoff, dass Sie mir helfen können.
Mit freundlichen Grüßen

I have a Venus GX and download data every month in XLS format. I have activated all 5 digital counters and have "always" over two years, get extra data events which show all rows blank but add "a163" data in one column for each of the 5 counters, without affecting the data in any of the counters after.
My theory is for some reason the Venus GX has some glitch which triggers an event (outside of the normal 15minute data)which has a timestamp and adds data (exports on the Comm data) from some register to the counters "a163" data column but no other data in any column except the time stamp.
The "a163" seems to be random, some days have no reading and others up to 10 or more. I have set data to record every 15minutes.
Any ideas as to the cause and solution?
Cheers

I am using a color control GX on my boats system, it is connected to a 4G Wifi router, Since this week I notice quit high consumption of data, which could only be used by the GX! (4.5GB in 5 days!)
Could it be the new version 2.60 is using more data?
And/ or will the new VRM protal use more?

Hi, Anyone other than me think this is a (huge) problem?
is VRM a tool for presentation of history?
I think yes, and a greate tool for system monitoring... BUT...
all data logged when cames to history and peak loads are close to useless...
The pictures below show a overload on a 90 kVA Inverter system!
Tell me... what can we use this pretty pictures for other than it fals give an impression that system has only a 10% of its max load ? :-)
Is it a feature? A bug? Even a analog, 1980 home entertainment system had Vue meters with peak hold function........ Most cheap multimeter has the function as well.
(And actually.,, the year 2013 Color control gx was able to log peak loads down to a secound peak easy. And also show it on the excel download.
we used it that time as documenting peak load ability. Not any more..
now days not even close to real load data is logged in venus devices...
yes, i know i have posted once before about it.That time on soc view.
But no more information about what is concluded.. Only recognised it may be a problem....
is it an design feature? A bug? if recognise its a fail, what is the plan?
the tool has been broken now for years. If use api to pull data, the data will be false, and not show actual loads and therefore not showing actual problems for a system.
Today we need 3. Part dataloggers to give a any realistic presentation of load to our customers.
any info from Victron ? Is it a recognised problem? If so, what is the plan, and when...

I'm commisioning a system using 2 x 150/45 charge controllers. Also has a 48volt 1600Va multiplus inverter. These are connected to a venus GX for remote monitoring. The venus has a ethernet cable connected for internet connection. It also VE cables between charge contollers and the Venus unit. The multiplus is connected to to the Venus via a ethernet type cable. On site I can see the charge controllers on Victron Connect but nothing else. What am I doing wrong

Hi everyone ! Not sure if I am missinhg something or misunderstood the way the data logging works with the Cerbo GX FW 2.60 and external storage. As you can see, the MicroSD 32GB is perfectly detected, but no record seems to be stored on it
[image]
The data is correctly sent to the VRM portal every minute, so not sure if the SD card is automatically flushed when the data is transferred to the VRM.
It will be interesting having it also stored on the MicroSD, so the data can be analyzed with other tools.
Thanks, Michel

Also, is specific programming required for the GX?

Hi, I installed a Venus GX to monitor a solar system, it works very well and I found the problem... the customer was sucking -80amps @ 50v (yes 4kw !) using the system to make tea and toast at the same time !
The system overloaded and shutdown (funny that !) so it was maybe only at 4kw for 10-15 seconds.
The strange thing is... a few hours later I logged in and the -80amps was clearly depicted on the V/A graph, clear as day and a pleasure to see.
But when I go back in to show the customer the logging, the particular -80amps plot is not there anymore, all of the days data is there, I am familiar with logging software I have triple checked the dates, times etc, I have stretched out the data to the hour that it was covered in, I have downloaded and reviewed the xls file,
But there are no xls timing gaps, there are no graphical gaps, it is like the software has 'smoothed' the 10-15 seconds of -80amps down to a more consistent -10amps for that time of the day.
How I wish I had taken a screenshot.... and now I'm even questioning did I really see it !
NB the shutdown was an Outback Inverter so there is no Victron error log, likewise no low battery alerts as none were set.
Appreciate any comments.

My Venus GX has been installed for 4 months and working perfectly - using both relays to switch generator and a pump. Until today...
First Issue: Now, for no reason, the relay setting has disappeared from the settings menu. And I have no access to see or control the 2 relays. Why would the settings for relays disappear from menu? Normally, even with nothing connected to the relay inputs, they showed up as a menu item.
Second issue: The main screen no longer shows data for battery levels, PV levels, DC current etc (but they do still show up correctly and update correctly in the device list page so it is receiving all battery and MPPT data as per normal). This happened at same moment that relays disappeared.
And Last issue: the VRM Portal is not updating data. The Venus GX is online, and connecting every 30 mins - so I can see it - but the last data is from 5 hours ago (when relays were lost)
So what has happened ? Is it software or hardware of the Venus GX device?
Basically only half of the system is now working and they are not related (ie. relays going missing are not related to the main screen missing the battery voltage)... So it seems like a a software failure?
Using latest firmware on all connected devices. Tried rebooting, unplugging power etc multiple times.
Any advice appreciated

Hello everyone ! I would like to reduce the monthly consumption of data on VRM, I'm using a VENUS GX and a GSM GX. The parameters configured are: auto updates disabled, interval between logs 4h: for this parameter, I have the impression that VRM is updated every 10min despite having set to 4h. Thanks in advance for the assistance.

I asked this in the modifications space earlier this week I wonder if it can be answered.
Referring to implementation notes it says:
Also if venus-data.{tar.gz,tgz,zip} is found on removable storage (usb stick, sd-card) when booting, it will be unpacked into /data. Implementation details in this commit. Added per Venus v2.30~28.
However this is not working for me in Venus os 2.53.
I have traced through the init.d logic.
Execution of either of the scripts:
- /etc/rc5.d/S30update-data.sh
- or /etc/init.d/update-data.sh
Works fine and reports: "Updating /data with /media/sda1/venus-data.tar.gz"
And the contents are correctly installed on /data
But this is not happening when rebooting.
What am I doing wrong?
More diagnostic information is in my post in the modification space.

Hello, Can you give some info on MPPT solar data being transmitted to NMEA2000 through the Venus GX? Does it output the data or when will this be available if not?
Also keen on tank level and temperature output to NMEA2000 through the Venus GX.
Thanks
