Hi Community/team.
Would it be possible to add NMEA2000 Binary switching support for Venus OS.
The VRM is a great portal to reach your boat/RV, Home....
I am sure that there are people "out there" that are having Binary Switchable units connected to the same N2K-network as the GX-device. For example the Garmin "Empirbus", among others...
It would be great to be able to have a screen with a set of manual or customizable binary switches, in a similar fascion as the internal relay's.
The binary-SW's could have a config page where you configure the instance ID and switch ID and if it is a momentary/toggle SW and set a label for it.
And finally.
These Binary-SW's could also be used as an "output-relay" to trigger external "stuff" based from current SoC, Level's, temperature, load and so on.
And why not. Since you already have a great Generator start/stop feature in the OS.
Add a few Binary "Recievers" to the OS, to be used as remote switches, control functions like:
Manual:
Auto Generator on/off, Manual Generator on/off, Inverter on/off, and so on..
I'm sure that installers/system-designers (and me) would love some of these features.

Hello everyone,
Hello to the staff of EV charging station if he still works at Victron...
We use many high value Victron products like the Quattro 10000.
Due to the quality of the Victron products and the integration of the EV charging station with the Victron infrastructure, including VRM, I chose this charger instead of the SMA charger.
Unfortunately, this product was put on the market without being finished and yet it is not a "cheap" product, just with its price!
What happens at Victron with this product?
Don’t you have a development team available to properly operate this charger?
The web and touch screen interface seems to come out of the 80s!
The automation allowing charging only when the batteries are sufficiently charged does not work.
The adaptation of the load according to the sunshine does not work either.
I paid for a machine that was supposed to function according to its characteristics.
This is not the case and it is not worthy of Victron to abandon us like that.

Hey Everyone,
I dont think what we need can be done, so asking on here to double check and maybe get some upvotes in the hope Victron add to their dev list.
Open to suggestions for possible DIY modifications, if that is possible, but would prefer to avoid modifications to Victron GX products under warranty.
Snip below is from ES2GX manual - GX Device Display - lists no possible options for customisation

I have 2 client systems, both are mobile systems in RV's utilising a EasySolar2 GX 48/3000 at their heart. Both Systems have a USB Hub with BT dongle for Ruuvi's and a GX Tank 140, which is used to connect 24v 4-20ma Tank senders.
The problem comes from them being mobile installations, as the 4G signal can be patchy and is occassionally unavailable for their chosen location.
When they are offline, they have no way to access the Tank information without resorting to remote console on LAN, which is not really suitable for all types of User.
Connecting to a wifi network that doesnt have internet, to get to the remote console on LAN, to then be able to look at the tanks seems a bit crazy, as the GX device has an inbuilt display to provide the essential information at a glance.
Primary use of this display, IMO, would be for when there is no internet, so would be handy to be able to see all of the relevant information to the system on it, not just a set of defaults.
Whilst the Tank's not being displayed is the primary complaint, it would be nice to be able to display the Ruuvi tag information on this screen also, but tank information is most important.
As the GX device is integrated and internally connected to the multi & MPPT I cannot even swap it out for a Cerbo & GX Touch, so am a bit stumped on how to proceed.
At present the only option I have to resolve both customers complaints is to purchase a tablet/ipad, mount locally in Kiosk mode, then use this to display the remote console.
This is only marginally better than using remote console on a phone, if this is how it has to be done then I would have to use GuiMods to customise the remote console to show the info on the home screen.
Any suggestions on how else this could be done would be very much appreciated, cheap tablets are almost always trouble!
If these features can be added to Venus OS then they would be useful to all systems containting a ES2GX, MP2GX or MaxiGX.
Cheers,
Rob

Hi All,
Let me start by saying that I work for an official Victron installer, and I love everything Victron related, and will use nothing else. This question is not a rant by any means, and more a question as to future development.
My question is regarding the Orion series of DC-DC chargers and the integration to GX devices, in the scenario of Motorhome using an Orion as a charging source from the truck alternator.
In a fully integrated system we are able to show on the Touch50 screen all the functions of the battery, MultiPlus, MPPT, and all AC input/output. However, the Orion chargers do not connect to the GX device, and thus show nothing on the Touch50. There is a "DC power" option on the display, which works to see if the Orion is working in terms of Watts, however, we aren't able to see the charger status etc.
We also have requirements to disable the Orion based off Low-Temperature cut outs, which is currently not possible (without a complicated workaround). An integration to the GX device and the existing temperature sensors connected to the GX device could possibly disable the Orion in future.
Thank you.

There are a few scenarios that I believe that systems should continue to work when they don't when a component disconnects.
Examples:
1. BMS comms is connected and then stops working for some reason (comms loss etc) - solar production completely stops. Surely the fallback settings on the MPPT should ensure that solar production continues and an alarm should be triggered?
2. Energy meter is connected and stops working for some reason (comms loss etc) the system then goes into passthru and solar production continues. The ideal scenario is that system continues to produce solar, metering is reverted to the inverter and alarm is triggered.
There are some more scenarios that are similar to the above where there should be some fallback logic to ensure systems keep working (ESS) but alarms are rather triggered than stopping certain functions.

Cela me semble indispensable pour intégrer.

Hi!
My smartshunt is mounted close to the batteries and these are of course located not very central in my sailboat. When I am in the cabin in the front I really cant get any connection. I guess it will be difficult to do something about it, as this is limitation in the bluetooth stack. But it should might be a function which keep the latest view in the memory or buffer? Of cource with a timestamp so I can see it is not alive. Together with a background update in the app, then this would really be great. This thong should not be very hard to develop as many apps are doing background updating.

Can the devs please add the ability to set end of absorption tail current in the Blue Smart charger lineup when in expert mode? This would be extremely helpful to prevent premature switch to float without relying on fixed absorption and the risk overcharging when doing that.
It appears that this was at least thought of at some point given in the Absorption duration settings it directs a user to disable the tail current setting when using fixed absorption.
If this is done PLEASE allow tail current setting to be dropped below the .50% level that is in the smart shunt (and maybe other products). Odyssey batteries want to see .02% of tail current to end absorption.

Hi, we have a lithium battery pack that we would like to fit to a vehicle and log, we want to record the charge to the battery, the current drawn from the battery and the vehicle alternator, and we need at least 1 second logging intervals.
The question is, is it possible to have all 3 BMV battery monitors logging to one laptop, and will the data be synchronized, so that we can compare values easily?
thanks

Dear Sir,
How can I access data such as battery condition, solar power generated etc, as simple text strings in real time, preferably using my local network connection. I.e. access the data from the venus via the my local network. I would then use the data in a program to decide to decrease the load minimising the power consumed from the grid.
Looking forward to hearing from you soonest.
Best regards Jack Davie
