Temperature offset of the Sensor inside a Smart Lithium Battery

Hello,

Following the last update about the internal Temp sensor of my smart lithium battery:

VictronConnect now with Smart Lithium battery update

Before I found this forum, I asked a question here: http://disq.us/p/1xqfygg:

Hello Great news, very useful, I asked this feature here: http://disq.us/p/1nuh76g
The solution was not easy: http://disq.us/p/1nxidzh
And applauded that here: http://disq.us/p/1r8q3ka and http://disq.us/p/1r5sdy7
Big thanks !

BUT BUT BUT ....

My Victron 100A Lithium battery has a temp sensor that has a big offset...
That means that now the internal battery probe says that the temp is 1°C and 4° ... yes, one measurement says 1° then some seconds later 4° then back to 1° etc...
Two outside thermometers, placed close to the battery measure a temp that is around 7.5°, so the offset is 6,5° (or 3,5°)
That means that I have to wait until it's 5°+6,5°=11,5° to be able to start to charge my battery...
That's a BIG problem for me... as i'm sometimes traveling in "cold" countries where the average temp is more between 6 and 10°...
Do you have a solution for this ?
I do not want to void my warranty by setting a lower T° in the app...
After some research I found someone else having the same problem: http://disq.us/p/1wwop76

My Smart Lithium 100A is connected to a BMS 12/200 and charged with an car alternator and/or a MPPT 75/15. they are connected to the AB port

Thanks !

@sebcbien Good News!

This issue has been heard by the developers and should now be fixed with the current version of VictronConnect.

It includes a firmware update that allows for a re-calibration and manual override of the temperature sensor offset. So you can improve the accuracy and charging performance of you battery.

I can only offer supportive words here, as I would not be the one reviewing your warranty claim if ever you have one.

However my experience is if you can provide evidence/documentation that there was a fault/inaccuracy with the equipment, ie internal termperature probe, then your warranty will be honored.

Victron does not try to wiggle out of genuine warranty claims for faulty equipment on technicalities. We just need to protect the equipment from abuse.

Makes sufficient records and evidence of the temp probe offset problem, and if you need further re-assurance, contact the distributor from where you purchased and ask them to make a note to your file in the event of a future issue.
