Orion TR Smart 12/24 20A input wire thickness

Dear all

I'm uplifting the Starter Battery from 12 to 24v with an Orion Tr Smart non-Isolated 12/24 20A but can't find information on the wire thickness for the input. As an output 6mm2 (AWG 9) will work fine, but no idea for the input (cable from Starter Battery to the Orion)

also, some wiring diagrams would help :)

Hi,

The answer is: It depends, and to answer accurately we would need much more info, including:

  • Length of run from battery to orion
  • Is it a single run or is there a distribution panel along the way?
  • Is there a breaker/fuse and/or disconnect switch along the way?
  • I assume your alternator can carry the full load from the Orion.

1m from Battery to Orion

single run to the busbars ( + -)

from the starter battery to Orion I want to place a breakerFuse (but will be dimensioned according to the cable)
