Error 67 NO BMS in ESS system after replacing MPPT

Greetings to the community!

I am seeking guidance on an issue we have encountered this week when replacing our charge controller with the new MPPT 250/70 in an ESS system. On the first day, everything worked perfectly, but since then, the system has not detected the charge controller, and locally we can verify ERROR 67 NO BMS.

What have we tried so far? (Many of these things we tried after reading forum posts)

  • Downgrade Cerbo to version 2.72.

  • Replace the ve.direct cable.

  • Redetect, restart, reboot.

  • Turn on / turn off MPPT with PV circuit breaker.

  • Reload ESS Assistant with VE.Configure

None of these solutions have resolved the problem.

The equipment includes:

  • Multiplus II 5000
  • Cerbo GX
  • 2u Pylontech UP 5000
  • SmartSolar 250/75

Has anyone faced a similar situation or have any ideas on how to address this issue? We would greatly appreciate any advice or suggestions you can offer.

Thanks again!

Federico.

Hi @FedericoRossi

Please check the cable between the MPPT and the Cerbo as this could be caused by a communication problem between the Cerbo and the MPPT. Is the MPPT visible in the device list on the Cerbo?

Kind regards,

Thiemo van Engelen

Hi @Thiemo van Engelen (Victron Energy staff) thank you for your quickly answer.

I attach a screenshot of Device List. The MPPT was detected the first day but now not anymore.

Any clues?

Good morning, we have solved the problem.

The problem was in the RX PORT FUNCTION by default.

Victron Connect -> Access to MPPT via Bluetooth -> Config (3 dots) > Config > Rx options >

By default it is on "ON OFF Remote". Not working with that option.

Select the 2nd option and it will work fine.

I think it has do to with the new firmware because the previous MPPT was working perfectly.

Hope that this works for someone else!

Thanks

Federico.

Hi @FedericoRossi

Good thing that you found the problem and that it is working now.

The "Remote On/Off" option is not the default for the MPPT so no idea what happened here.

Kind regards,

Hello!

I think that the last update turns that option into default, but not 100% sure.

Maybe the other cases in the forum can be solved checking this parameter!
