Lithium Batteries in series not balancing

Hi We have a tiny home site, running an easy solar 24 3000 and 2 x 12 volt 200Ah victron (non smart) lithium's in series with the comms cables dasiy chained together, running a separate VE bus bms connected to the multiplus via an rj45 cable

The system wont balance the 2 batteries, 1 battery is at 12 volts the other 16 with high voltage alarm. Any clues please

The Multiplus is runnning 413 and in an attempt to upgrade to 459 via VE flash he can no longer get communications with the Multi plus, he is using an MK2 adaptor on site

Hi @Energy Connections

If a Lithium battery is at 16 volts, there is a big chance it is permanently damaged.
Please test both batteries in your workshop.

The reason it is gotten unbalanced can be a lot of things, but most likely the system was not configured properly, otherwise it would have stopped charging at the high voltage alarm.

That system needs to be turned off.

You could try manually discharging the errant battery using something resistive, till its voltage matches the others - and closely monitor it when it's back in service.

But as Daniel says, it's very likely toast.
