You could use a Smart Battery Protect is you pay particular attention to the polarity and also the PV should be disconnected first before the battery is disconnected. Choose a suitable generic relay for this purpose.
A more elegant way, if the VE.Direct port is free would be to send a signal to disable the MPPT when you don't want it to charge.
Im assuming that there isn't a way to disable charging from a GX device via VE.Direct?
