testing couple of Orion 12/12/ 30 .

Starting temp was 20deg. Ambient temp 19deg C. Floor temp 17deg

On concrete floor facing up, in workshop so plenty of air flow.

Both started with 28amp charge, as temp rised it quickly got to 40c ( derating from now on).

Got to 54deg an charges at 24amp. Stayed at this for a hour.

Both did similar readings.

In vehicle ambient temp 34deg ( heater on)

Charger at 70deg an 22amp.

Manual says up to 40 deg good, so why does charger go past that easily ?

How do people go where air temp is hot ?

Are these readings normal for the chargers ?

If it needs more air flow or fan why doesn't victron so that ?

How do people go where air temp is hot ? Use an external fan

Are these readings normal for the chargers ? yes

If it needs more air flow or fan why doesn't Victron do that ? It costs more money and is not always needed.
