Dual Orion-TR Smart 12/12-18 - 24v Setup (2 x 12v LiFePo)

Hi,

Curious if it's possible to use two of the Orion-Tr Smart 12/12-18 units, each connected to a 12v LiFePO battery (the 12v batteries are wired in series for 24v output), running off a single starting battery/alternator.

It seems like it would be no different than hooking up the 12v LiFePo batters to a dual bank charger but not sure if this setup would cause any issues for the Dc-DC chargers.

Hi @mwh624, welcome to the Community!

Batteries wired in series should be charged and discharged in series - charging them separately will create problems for your system.

Therefore, to charge your 24v nominal battery bank from your 12v nominal start battery (and through it, the alternator), please use the Orion-Tr Smart 12/24-10A or the Orion-Tr Smart 12/24-15A chargers.
