MK3-USB interface not recognized by Victron Connect v5.8 on mac.

I'm trying to connect my older Macbook Pro to my Multiplus 24V3000/120v. I'm using a new out of the box MK3-USB interface. I've followed all the procedures: my Mulitplus is powered by DC. All other components are disconnected. I am using a Victron RJ45 Cat 5 cable to connect to my Macbook pro running Victron Connect v5.8. I tried running the older version of Victron Connect v3.2 and the newest on my wife's new Macbook, without success. The sticker inside the Multiplus reads: 2012120.HEX. What am I doing wrong?

Hi @kellystier

It sounds like there might be an old firmware version running on the MultiPlus that is not yet compatible with VictronConnect.

You might need to update the Multi Firmware first - ideally you can get in touch with a trained Victron specialist technician for this procedure - it has some risks.

Guy, please provide instructions on how to get in touch with a Victron specialist. I've been working on this for over a week now and haven't been able to find the right person to help me.

I have followed your instructions per https://www.victronenergy.com/live/updating_firmware:updating_ve.bus_products but I can't get the MK3 to connect even to update the firmware.

Also, probably not the issue, but make sure you don't have a virtual machine running on your Mac that has grabbed the USB port. If you run Windows in Virtual machine on your Mac this can happen. Probably not your issue but something to watch for.

I used my own Mac to communicate with my Quattro last night for the first time via my own Mk3 USB interface and it worked perfectly.

When the MK3 is connected to the Mac and the MultiPlus and you open VictronConnect, do you see a VE.Bus item in the devices list?

If that is the case please try the following.

  1. Disconnect the MK3 from the Mac USB port
  2. Disconnect the RJ45 cable
  3. Wait three minutes
  4. Connect the RJ45 cable
  5. Connect the USB to the Mac that has the latest VictronConnect version installed (v5.35)
  6. Open VictronConnect and wait at least five minutes
  7. If the MultiPlus doesn’t appear restart VictronConnect

Please, let me know if the above procedure helped.
