Smart Lithium, VE.Bus and IP22 Charger

I've been told by my distributor that I don't need a relay to cut off the charger in the event of low temperature because the battery will do this automatically. All the schematics I've seen show a separate relay switched by charger disconnect.

Is the distributor correct?

Unfortunately, the distributor is incorrect.
The Smart Lithium batteries do not have a disconnect built in. You need an external relay to disconnect the charger in low cell temperature or high cell Voltage events.
