I though I had read that VictronConnect has a limit to the number of devices that can be managed with it. Is that the case? If so what is the limit and are there any workarounds?

I don't know any limits. I checked and installed hundreds of devices and never run into a limit.
The only limit is that you can only be connected to one device at once.
