I replaced my solar panels and upgraded to two Victron SmartSolar MPPT 150|100-Tr Solar Charge Controllers. I had two 100/50 controllers previously. The system was and is hooked up with a Victron Multiplus 12/3000/120-50 120V running in ESS. This is all installed in an RV.
Now with the 150/100's, when shore power is plugged in I am seeing the Charge Controllers eventually shut down with error #38 Over Voltage error. This did not happen with the 100/50 controllers. I've made sure that all settings on the controllers and Multiplus are set to a 12 vdc system with 13.6 and 14.4 to be the charge levels for the 400 AH's of BB lithiums I have.
So far my troubleshooting has been:
- Shut down and restart system (2-3 times)
- Ensured all firmware is latest
- Ensured all assistants are the latest
- Set Multiplus charge voltages to 13.4 and 14.2 (same error occurs)
- Tried un-networking from BMV-712 (same error)
- Removed ESS and run with and without shore power
- Reinstalled ESS assistant and settings back to original
I'm still getting the #38 error after about 20 minutes on one controllers and then about 5 minutes later on the other charge controller.
Does anyone have any suggestion as to what I should do next?
