DVCC implementation on Venus GX , AGM, MPPT 75/50, BMV702 & Phoenix


Hello Victron Community,

Seeking a 2nd pair of eyes over configuration changes needed to implement DVCC. I have read and reread several times the documentation covered in the CCGX manual. As my environment is simple (no ESS no BMS no Multiple etc). I think this should be start forward, but just want the confirmation, as the continual warnings in the documentation have got me gun shy.

Question, when would be the best time during the day to implement these changes? I assume not during the active charge cycle? Recognising that the SCC are power from PV panels Should the changes be made once they are off and assume that they will pick up the changes from the Venus upon start up the next day. OR should I implement once the charge cycle is in float stage?

4.4 DVCC Features for all systems

4.4.1 Limit charge current

This is where I am a little unclear.

As I have 2 MPPT’s am I correct I still only set this at 50Amps as the source will be one of the BMV’s on one of the banks, and not need to set this to the max sum of both e.g.: 100Amps. Additionally, should there be an allowance for ships load?



4.4.2 Shared Voltage Sense (SVS)

AGAIN, This is where I am a little unclear.

As there are 2 BMV 702 is this an issue? I assume it will source from one of the BMV’s feed this to the MPPTs (which will remove my voltage drop issue due to cable run length, which is currently introducing ~ 0.13v drop)



4.4.3 Shared Temperature Sense

I am good with this, simply reference one of the 2 x ASS0000010000 I have installed. (Will remove the BMV 702 temp sense, as I will be implementing mid- level monitoring in the very near future.)



4.4.4 Shared Current Sense (SCS) P34/50

This looks Ok , but concerned that is will only be reflecting the current (and using tail current from on BMV/ Battery Bank)

4.5 DVCC features when using CAN -Bus BMS sharing
