Smart BMS 12-200 system+ port behaviour

I have a question regarding how the system+ port works. Say there are both chargers and loads connected to the system+ and for some reason, it disconnects due to low battery cell voltage, does this inhibit also the charge sources or still allow charge current? In other words, does it act more a relay open/shut or more like a directional restriction?

Also, I was wondering that given that the System+ port is sometimes called an in-built Battery Protect, why does it support bidirectional current and also inverters when the Battery Protects are unidirectional and won't support inverters? Or perhaps phrased differently: could we have bidirectional Battery Protects that support inverters as well? Seems like a great improvement opportunity that would make these devices more resilient.
