I have see many good deals on Ebay of multiplus ii inverters, brand new, but several hundreds cheaper than Victron suppliers outside of ebay.
But my concern is Warrantees. If I bought a new inverter via ebay, how does a warrantee claim work? Do i need to go via the ebay seller, which may no longer be around?

Normally warranty first goes through the seller from whom you bought the device.
With the serial number you can check who was the original distributor and send him a support request.
To add, its not usually warranty that is a problem. Its getting help and support and when you go for the cheapest seller you will get none of that.
Inevitably that leads to unhappy posts on the forum.
Support someone who has an investment in skills, even if it costs a bit more.
This is somewhat specialised gear, and you wouldn’t go with the lowest cost medical or legal advice;)
It is worth considering that since Victron enforces MAP (minimum advertised pricing) for their authorized distributors/dealers, then by definition any company selling Victron products below MAP is likely not an authorized distributor/dealer, and may well be selling stolen, previously RMA'd, or in fact broken equipment that would not be covered by warranty at all. Regardless of budgetary constraints, I would advise extreme caution in proceeding - in fact, it warrants rather more caution due to budgetary constraints that may exist, as money spent purchasing components from dodgy sellers on eBay that may or may not be warranted at all still may end up being as good as thrown away, while if you take your time and save the money to purchase from authorized distributors, you'll have both the warranty as well as support and, too, peace of mind.
