I have an 12/12-30 Orion TR-Smart wired between my Puma Defender 130 (150A smart alternator) and my 100AR lithium battery in a demountable camper.
When I first start the engine, the Orion charges for about 5-8 seconds and then cuts out on the input voltage lockout which is set to the default voltage of 12.5v. After a few seconds it resets and the cycle begins again.
If I lower the input voltage lockout value to around 11v, it doesn’t cut out in the same way, but the Orion makes a very distinct mechanical ping and what sounds like, a thermal switch operating. It then stops charging for a few seconds before resetting and doing it all again.
Eventually after about 10 mins, it seems to settle down and all is fine.
Anyone have any ideas?
