When will Victron Tech allocate the option to allocate the ET112 Power meter as the sole AC LOADS

When I add the ET112 as the AC LOADS role it does not show in the VRM portal as AC LOADS (It doesn't have the option to allocate the Position. I've tried adding as the PV Load but it adds it to the Solar and messes things right up.. I've added a ET112 to a Third party Inverters AC outputs only. It should ONLY report the AC Loads in AC LOADS on VRM Portal. It shows Watts in the Remote Console Page fine.

Hi @Rustler223,

There are no plans to work on changing how an external energy meter works in a Victron system.

Setting an energy meter as AC load can provide additional insight and reporting granularity for sub-circuits, but VRM and the GX devices are intended to be used in conjunction with a Victron Inverter and that is where we focus our R&D.

Thanks Guy, Surely its not a huge mod? Section 5.1 of the Cerbo Manual list them as connectable and they are stocked and sold by the Victron dealer. The Victron AC Current sensor is too large and limited Amp rating to facilitate into Din mounting spaces. So Fronius, SMA, Solar Edge and ABB are Victron Inverters?

The size of the project isn't known because it's not something we are planning to do.

Trying to use a GX device and VRM without a Victron system, and only a Fronius, SMA, Solar Edge, ABB or others will also probably have some limitations as well.

When part of a Victron power system displaying those other components is supported by Victron.

From the manual:

With GX device firmware version 2.80 and later, they can also be used for other purposes e.g. to measure specific, arbitrary AC loads or circuits for example. But this should not be considered a replacement to having a Victron Inverter/Charger. Attempting to use other brand battery inverters and trying to substitute their lack of data connectivity to the GX device by using Energy Meters will not work as expected.

Hi @Rustler223,

It is possible to configure the AC meter as a generator.

cleanshot-2023-10-09-at-114030.jpg

It can be used to display generator production so that when it's connected in line with other loads the total is visible before it is consumed by the loads (and before any excess or deficiency is counted at the Victron Inverter Charger).

In that arrangement the system expects there to be a reading from a Victron Inverter and calculations are made relative to that.

When there is no Victron inverter in a system some of the calculations may not appear correctly in some of the dashboards (and can vary between dashboards).

Yes I have that set.. But it also shows as the AC load too when the Generator is running.
