Selecting replacement inverter

Hi, looking for suggestions for a replacement 24 Vdc to 230 Vac inverter. Currently have 1340 W solar panels arranged to give approx 76 volts at 100/30 mppt. 4x 100Ah batteries arranged in 2 banks of 2 batteries to give 24Vdc. My replacement inverter is to run a mini freezer (rated 0.5 Amp at 230Vac with nominal 0.5 kwhr /24 hrs) and a fridge (rated 0.5 Amp). We use these mostly April to October, and supplement with a non integrated wind turbine and an horribly noisy petrol generator. Have destroyed a cheap Chinese inverter and now looking to have a proper job!

The bigger the inverter, the larger the overhead of running it Fridges have high startup currents. The trick is to size it so that the inverter can handle both starting simultaneously. Fitting soft starts to the fridges will help

Gues s is that you will be ok with 500W, but it's a guess.

Hi @Paul Hadley

What you really want is an inverter/charger, like a Multiplus. A balanced system is always nice. That much PV and battery is crying out for something up around 2000VA. The loads you suggest don't warrant that, but your real world might also include running some things like a water jug, a vacuum cleaner, even a little pressure washer, etc. Nice to have that capability.

Nasty gensets need their runtime minimised, so a charge capability of 40A would be useful too. The 24/2000 shown here would be good.. https://www.victronenergy.com/upload/documents/Datasheet-MultiPlus-500VA-2000VA-EN.pdf

Personally (not justifiably) I'd step up to a 24/3000.

Thank you for your thinking on that. The solar is sized for winter operations, assuming 10% of nominal - when no fridge, no deep freeze operating, but I do like your thinking. Thank you
