Running the 3kw Air source is "easy".
Starting the air source is the problem.
What is your Locked Rotor Amps (LRA) ?
Do you have a soft start installed?
Will the inverter have any "help" from the grid or no grid?

The Unit is a LG 5kW ThermaV monobloc running current when heating 5.2A at 230VAC and there will be no help from the grid.

You mean 3kW output power?

Then the heatpump has on the 230V side something like 750-900W. The problem is the compressor in the Heatpump, which can suck easily 10 times more while starting

The MultiPlus 48/3000 is definitiv to small for it. The 48/5000 might work, but there is no watanty even if the 5000 can be shortly overloaded to 10000VA.

I run a 9kw and a 5.4kw Daikin air to air heat pump off a single 5k inverter and no issues at all....

By 3kw is it referring to heating ability? Usually the figure they give is not the power it draws but what it provides.

Is it the inverter type? If so you can basically use the volt current figures.

Check the current drawn, that is the important piece of information. Usually it is in the tech data or on the name plate. If it is not inverter type, the. size for a peak 3 to 5 times that

Thanks for the information I will look at the unit to determine the running wattage.

It's the starting power that matters, not the power when running.

Some heat pumps have soft start circuits to prevent big inrush currents, but some don't and in this case the starting current can be 3x-5x the running current.

You need to check the detailed specifications of your heat pump to see which type it is.

Mine have a plate on the side with nominal and max current listed, not too much difference between the two due to invertor type.... Older ones likely 3* or more for starting, new ones are ok.
