What size fuse between battery and Phoenix 12/250 inverter?

Hi,

What size fuse do I need between my 100ah battery and a Phoenix 12/250 inverter? Inverter has continuous power of 200w and max of 400w. I am using a Smartsolar MPPT 100/20.

Thanks!

It depends on your wiring, you generally fuse for that.

But 250/12 is 20.8A. So a 25A fuse minimum.

The internal ones are 30A see page 4 of the printed manual.

Hi Alexandra,

Thanks for your reply. I also thought it should be 25a but my manual says the internal fuse is 60a, not 2 x 30a as your manual states.
As I can't get a 25a fuse, do you think a 30a will be ok?
My wiring will be 6mm² at a length of 1.5m.

Thanks

@danjorourke

For 6mm² a 30A fuse is perfect.

Went and checked my printed manual its from 2017. Its the same as yours, so there must have been a revision to the online one, its date is 2020

Still you are fusing for your wiring.

Maybe the "last resort" 60A internal fuse was mentioned in the older document erroneously.
