Phoenix Inverter remote works in ECO mode but not PWR unless....

I have a Phoenix Inverter with the remote wired to a switch panel. The remote works in ECO mode but not in PWR mode unless I disconnect the ground from the switch - but then light on the switch doesn't work. Any ideas?
