Does anyone know if the Lynx Smart BMS and its remote isolator function is valid for the Boat Safety Certificate on UK inland waterways, or do I still need to have a manual switch between the battery and the bms?
You should download and check the BSS documentation. This states that solenoid operated isolators may be accepted, as it says may it could be open to interpretation. You will still need to have an easily accessible and labelled remote actuation switch. See the document at https://www.boatsafetyscheme.org/requirements-examinations-certification/private-boat-requirements/. Assumption is that this is a private boat, not sure if commercial or hire boats are different.
Additional resources still need to be added for this topic
