Wiring a Victron Centaur 12/60

I am installing a Victron Centaur 12/60 on a a marine vessel without shore power.. I do not have AC Power. Do I use the power from the existing DC Battery Bank and wire same to the AC input to power the unit and then run as normal a cable from DC+ each Battery ?

???

What do you want to achieve?

The Centaur is a battery charger with a wide input range (90-265V AC or 90-400V DC).

Do you have a battery bank with more than 90V?

I'm still not sure what you want to do.

Do you want to charge your house batteries from your starter battery?

The Centaur needs at least 90V at the input to start working.

Hi Matthias,

I have probably been recommended the incorrect charger.

I am running an inboard diesel, standard set up ,70 Alternator, as a precaution I wish to have a charger powered from either of the batteries or the alternator to ensure all 3 batteries are fully charged during the day afloat while running the engine. Thank you for advice, greatly appreciated as attempting to learn about 12v power.

If both battery banks are 12V and lead/AGM/Gel than you can simply use a cyrix-ct relay.

If you house batteries are 24V or lithium you have to use a Orion-Tr Smart charger to limit the charge current.
