Where should I locate the energy meter ? (3phase)

Hello,

I am working on a residential project.

There is a 3-phase supply to a home with a main consumer board, and a sub consumer board in a garage (not in close proximity to home). The PV installation will be on the garage.

Must the energy meter sit on the feed for the main consumer board, or will it be ok sitting on the feed for the garage consumer board (a branch off the main supply)

I believe it must sit on the feed for the main consumer board, otherwise any loads from the main consumer board won't be recognised/noticed if its sitting on the sub board in the garage.

Please confirm.

Hi,

the meter has to go before the main distribution board, to be able to measure all the loads, as you suspected.
