MPPT not showing in VRM

Hey Guys,

I have a EasySolar II GX with an additional MPPT charger in a dc coupled system. The addition MPPT charger is connected to the EasySolar II via Can.bus with terminators either side of the link between them.

I have notice that when I log into the EasySolar via its IP, I see the internal MPPT 250/70 listed but not the additional MPPT 250/100 unit. If I log into the vrm portal and check devices I see the EasySolar GX, MultiPlus II, Smart Shunt and the MPPT 250/70 only.

What would cause a unit not to appear??

Nathan

I took a look at the EasySolar II GX manual and it does not have VE.Can.

Use VE.Direct instead.

I took a picture of both devices and they do both have ve.can rj45 ports.

besides the ve.direct port is being used by the smart shunt on the battery.

Strange.

But look here, too:

[14] Though some early batches of the Maxi GX, MultiPlus-II GX and
EasySolar-II GX all have a dual set of RJ-45 sockets labelled VE.Can,
this port is actually a BMS-Can port. It can only be used to connected
to managed batteries such as Freedomwon, BYD, Pylontech, BlueNova, MG
Energy Systems and others, at 500kbps. The hardware does not meet the
requirements for a VE.Can port; and thus it is not possible to use to
port to connect Victron products such as the SmartSolar VE.Can MPPT
product range. Note that for a while Venus OS
firmware did allow to select the VE.Can function and other baudrates.
The result will be unreliable, and therefor they have been updated to
lock into BMS-Can only at 500kbps.

I suppose then that VE.Direct to USB could be an option to connect your second MPPT, if the only VE.Direct port is taken by the SmartShunt.

That is strange, it’s clearly labeled poorly then. I don’t get why the Bluetooth in everything in my system isn’t sufficient enough to link all the pieces together in the one system.
