MK3-USB or VE.Bus Smart dongle

I want to change my charging profile on my Multi plus to be able to use LiFePO4 batteries. Can I use both the MK3- USB and VE.Bu Smart dongle to program my Multi plus?

if I invest in the Color control GX would that one work?

I have two MPPT solar regulators without blue tooth would the Color controller give me blue tooth access to them? or do I need to buy two VE Direct Bluetooth smart dongles?

The VE.Bus Smart dongle is only to read current values, changing the input current and switching the device on/off/charger-only.

With the MK3 you can use VE.config to change settings or update the firmware.

With the CCGX you can use remote VE.config via the VRM-portal.

No, the CCGX don't give you BT access to the MPPTs. You can read out the current values of the MPPTs but you can't change settings, for this you need a VE.direct BT dongle.

Recent VictronConnect betas give complete access to the mppts via CCGX ethernet. Hasn't made it yet to full-release status, but I'm sure it will. Yes, you can make setting changes in the mppt that stick.

Hi there,
This topic is quite old but I just want to ask it things are changed since then.

With VictronConnect application being updated, is it now possible to perform firmware update (of multiplus and mipltiplus II units) using VE.Bus Smart dongle?

No, updating the firmware and changing settings of the MultiPlus is still not possible.

Setting up a Multiplus II unit as a demo device on the iOS VictronConnect app, you have access to all of the inverter’s settings. Given the fact that iOS can only connect through the Bluetooth dongle, does that mean that it’s not possible to adjust settings on said units, or is this an erroneous understanding of the platform’s ability on my side?
