Safe to disconnect batteries with 100/20 controller for storage

Just installed a 12v lithium battery and a 100/20 controller to my caravans existing 120w panel. When I'm not using the van I intended to disconnect the battery from the controller and leave the battery at a storage voltage.

Is this advisable? Can the controller dissipate the power generated from the panel?

The controller will not likely be damaged by doing this, but I wouldn't recommend it.
However, what would happen is that high Voltage (PV Voltage) will appear at the Battery terminals of the MPPT without a battery connected. This high Voltage may damage other things connected in the battery circuit.
I'd recommend disconnecting the PV also during the time that the battery is disconnected. It'd be best to disconnect the PV first before the battery is disconnected.
