MultiPlus-II 48/500/70-50 + US200C + Cerbo GX - how to setup ESS

Hi - I'm new to the VE-community and I'm more or less a starter when we talk abort VE products ;-)
Anyway - my challenge at present is, to find a guide for the setup of the ESS via the "VEConfigure 3" tool.

Status and setup is as follow:
- MultiPlus-II 48/500/70-50 (version 498)
- Pylontech US200C
- Cerbo GX (version 3.40)
- plus 230V PV system (converter + modules) 1.600VA
- the PV system is directly connected to the loads
- if the PV system is producing more than the loads actually takes, it should go via MP2 to the battery
- the MP2 and the battery are connected to the GX device
FYI: I just started with a very small battery to get a better understanding where to optimize what in real life (battery vs. PV system).

I followed the guide to download via the VRM portal the config of the MP2. Via "VE Configure 3" I'm able to change setting - it is just the question what do i have to change ;-)

Tab General:
System frequency: 50Hz (system is installed in Germany)
Shore limite: 6,0A (just for testing)
Overruled by remote: ticked
Dynamic current limiter: unticked
External current sensor connected: unticked
Enable battery monitor: unticked (in some videos the change this part in some not - so what is correct and if to change - with what)

Tab Grid:
Country: VDE-AR-N 4105:2018-11,internal NS protection
AC input related settings: Above selected gridcode plus LOM B (compliant)

Transfer switch:
- Accept wide input frequency range: ticked
AC low disconnect: 180V
AC high connect: 265V
AC low connect: 187V
AC high disconnect: 270V
UPS function: ticked

Tab Inverter:
Inverter output voltage: 230V
Ground relay: ticked (do I need to have that ticked???)
Power Assit: 2,0
DC input low shut-down: 37,20V
DC input low restart: 43,60V
DC input low pre-alarm: 43,60V
Shut down on SOC: unticked
Do not restart after short-circuit: unticked
Enable AES: Untciked

Tab Charger:
Enable charger: ticked
Battery type: No corresponding default
Weak AC input: unticked
Stop after excessive bulk: unticked
Lithium batteries: unticked
Storage mode: ticked
Use equalization: unticked
Charge curve:Adaptive + BatterySafe
Absorption voltage: 57,60V
Flot voltage: 55,20V
Charge current: 70A
Repeated absorption time: 1,0Hr
Repeated absorption interval: 7,0 days
Maximum absorption time: 8 Hr
Temperature compensation: -64,8 mV/deg

Tab Virtual switch:
Do not use VS: ticked

Tab Assistants:
Assistant: ESS

Start Assistant

- Battery system

--> System uses LiFePo4 with other type BMS (would be what I would select)

- Bettery capacity

--> 50 Ah (based on the one US2000C specs)

- VEConfigure battery type selection

--> Change battery type as suggested

- Sustain voltage

--> 48,00V (I changed it as mentioned in most posts - but no Idea why it has to be 48V)

- Dynamic cut-off

--> all 4 has been changed to 46V (I changed it as mentioned in most posts - but no Idea why it has to be 46V)
- Restart offset

--> 1,2V (No changes as mentioned in most posts - but no Idea why it has to be 1,2V)

- PV Inverters

--> Changed to YES (Because I have a non VE PV 230V system connected)

- Voltage to restart PV

--> Restart PV Inverters when the DC voltage becomes lower than 40,00V (Totally lost ??? I'm using an independent PV system from a different vendor. So is it important for me???)

- Frequencies

--> The solar converter will start reducing its output power at 50,20 Hz

--> Output power will be reduced to minimum when the frequency is 52,70 Hz

--> The converter will disconnect when the frequency is highter than 53,00 Hz

(I'm not sure if my system does support this - have to ask - but would like to understand for what it is needed - and if maybe is better to turn that off to secure the PV system)

- Total solar power

--> Total installed PV inverter power is 1600 Watts

--> Total installed PV panel is 1780 Watts

# Summary Information Battery type - changed by assistant #

- Absorption voltage: 56,80V

- Flot voltage: 54,00V

- Maximum absorption time: 1 Hr

- Storage mode: unchecked

- Lithium batteries: checked

- Change curve: Fixed

- State of charge when Bilk finished: 95,0%

- Change efficiency: 0,95

It would be great if someone can have a look an guide me with the settings.

If I missed information - please let me know.

Thank you in advance

Ralf

Welcome.

The community is here to help you help yourself, but first you need to help yourself by doing the research if you intend to DIY or to involve a skilled professional to help.

A simple google will show you the victron guides for ESS, PV inverters and even Pylontech.

If you tag your products on the post the links are automatically loaded in a reference panel at the top right.

At professional.victronenergy.com is free online training as well in video form.

Many good topics available via search as well.

This is not a basic system you are attempting and we have a responsibility to encourage members to do it the right way.

The community, unfortunately, isn’t a shortcut around a qualified installer or investing the time to fully skill up.

@nickdb Hi - I already invested many hours to to find the right article for my setup. But the answers are sometimes very different. So my intention was to see, if someone here can confirm what I have collected. As you can see - I have not started with ZERO - it is just to fill the gaps.

I would like to be sure, that I'm not killing my investment with a great google post ;-)

Usually once I have all information - I created a full how-to article to share it with others who are in the same situation - with additional hints and challenges I had on my way.

Back to the main point - it would be nice and helpful if you would not block this article. Also here I invested time and my hope to get the system (and my invest) up and running soonest.

Thank you in advance

Ralf
