Does the system shut down if the Venus GX Monitoring Device turns off?

Hello Everyone,

I would like to ask about the Venus GX Monitoring Device, What will happen if the GX is switched off, will the system be shut down? Will the inverter be off?

Could you please advise on the consequences of turning the GX off?

Thanks in advance!

Hi @tareq,

It really depends on if the system uses a managed lithium battery with a BMS. Then turning off the GX device can cause the system to shut down as a safety precaution (because then the battery can no longer communicate its limits).

It will usually stay online for a few minutes though.

If the GX is just used for monitoring, and not for control, with a lead acid battery for example then the system will continue to operate if the GX goes offline.

Thanks for your answer, Mr. Guy.

Yes, there are Pylontech batteries and the BMS is automatically managing, so would that make the whole system off?

P.S. The system is Off-grid.

Yes, after several minutes without communication from the pylontech battery to the inverter via the GX device, the inverter will turn itself off.
