I'm trying to update the firmware on my victron multiplus II 120V 3000 VA from V492 to V506. It starts to download gets to 1% then crashes my system, power turns off and inverter reboots.

Are you trying to update thru VRM? Or locally with MK3 adapter? If using the MK3 adapter make sure that the inverter is the only thing connected to the ve.bus and that there is no gx device connected while doing the update.
