Using Orion 12 v to 12 v Converter as Battery Charger

Hi. We are a sailing vessel. We have just about every thing Victron and are happy customers.

Everything on our boat is 12 volts. We have 1000 amp hrs of AGM house batteries that are charged from various sources. We also have a separate 100 amp hr AGM battery that is used only for navigation electronics (very small amp draw) It's only source of charge is via Victron Orion Isolated DC/DC Converter.

Is the Orion an appropriate source of charging for an AGM battery?

We ask this with a good understanding of smart charging and various volts and stages of charging process.

I look forward to any confirmation questions you may have and your reply.

Kindest Regards

Adrian Peck

Sounds right. the 100AH nav bank is pretty much going to be at float at all times and only really drawn upon if the orion died or is isolated.

That's a lot of reserve!
