EM24 RS485, strange serial number

I have a new EM24 Rs485 with Victron usb adapter connected to a laptop. Running UCS7 detects the device on serial port, baud 9600, addr. 1, etc.

But UCS7 reports a very strange serial number, something like “ÿÿÿÿ”.

sticker on the side says it’s and EM24-DIN.AV9.3.X.IS.X.29 from 2022, Sn:BW311008xxxxx

Am I doing something wrong or is something wrong with the device?

Any comment is appreciated.

Don't remember what my EM24 showed there as Serial Number, but did you try some measurements? That was more interessting for me. I attached some heater with a known wattage and checked what the EM24 is showing.

And finally just try to connect it to your Cerbo / RasPi with Venus OS. If it is recognized there correctly, I would not be concerned about this serial number.

@jetlag Thanks for your answer. First measurements look ok, at least voltage of all three phases are reported. Connecting to VenusOS gives an error during init phase of dbus-cgwacs, as serial number is used to publish at the dbus interface and "ÿÿÿÿ" is not allowed.

Ok, - is it a new EM24 and do you have warranty?

Maybe a SW Update would help (if there is a new version), but I never did this.

Yes, it's brand new and unused EM24.

I will contact the distributor about the warranty?
