What communication interfaces are supported for EM24/ET340 Energy Meters? Is TCP/IP (ethernet) compatible?

The Victron Energy page which covers Energy Meter devices specifically mentions the RS485 communication interface. Is this the ONLY protocol that works?

The EM24, and other Carlo Gavazzi meters are offered with "Ethernet Modbus TCP/IP " communication option. Since my Color Control is on the same network, can I connect an Energy Meter using an ethernet cable (to my router) and then add to the Color Control that way?

There is something on this topic on the Github page of Venus OS.

https://github.com/victronenergy/venus/issues/379

Looks like it's not yet supported in Venus OS.

They use MODBUS over RS485. The Carlo Gavazzi Ethernet modules are not supported.

This is a good cable to use to interface with CCGX / Venus GX

While unfortunate Ethernet communication isn't supported, I thank you both very much for clarifying this for me.
