Why do Victron make an isolated and non isolated version of the Orion Tr smart?

Why do Victron make an isolated and non isolated version of the Orion Tr smart? Surely if you connect the two -ve of the isolated together it becomes a non isolated? Is there something else about it that is different?

@SteveS There are situations where the two batteries do not share a common negative, and therefore an isolated unit is needed. If the batteries share a common negative, then the non isolated unit is fine.

Yes I fully understand the need for an isolated version, but as I said if you connect the two -ve of the isolated together it becomes a non isolated. So why do they make two versions? Is there perhaps another reason?

You can use the isolated version to measure the current used to charge a battery using a smart BMV. Measuring with a non isolated version would also includes the current wasted in heat.
