Energy balance of ESS system

Dear Sir or Madam,

Below, I have attached two screenshots from the VRM Portal, illustrating the dashboard and the annual energy balance of a Victron ESS System. Shouldn't the sum of the solar produced energy and the energy abdorbed by the AC grid (AC Input) equal the total annual consumption? Something that's not happening.

Hi @pchristou

Efficiency losses. And frequent battery cycling.. you never get out what you put in them, and there's about 5x cycles for a day on what looks like a shunt tile. Inverter standby and conversion losses too.

Not much usage for a year. And no export. Why use ESS?
