Decipher load indication on VenusGX / VRM display in ESS mode

load indication on ccgx/venus in ess mode

it is not entirely clear how the loads are divided between AC loads and critical loads during ess mode.
in my case all loads are either on ac2 or ac1 output . which load is considered a critical load and which one is AC load

Is the critical load equivalent to what inverter is feeding?

and the remaining loads are termed AC loads which basically equal to Input from the grid - (PV inverter - Critical loads) ?

In a related question is there any way to separate thge loads on AC Out 1 and AC Out 2 in VRM .


In energymeter menu there is no possibility of selecting the location on the output side ?. I would be glad to put a separate EM340 on the load side and log it to VRM

Yes. In your screenshot, the box called critical loads shows the power draw of Ac output 1 and 2; combined. The Multi and Quattro hardware doesn’t measure them individually.

Yes. It’s all loads on the input side.

No.

Correct, there is not. Would also require quite some changes I’m afraid.

I have some testing to do to see if what you are trying to do is possible without needing another energy meter.

If you are willing to get another energy meter, I think it you can get the results you are after by moving the AC-2 output loads over to the AC-input side, and then putting an energy meter between those loads and the grid meter. You will also need to get another energymeter, and set it as PV inverter and have that also measured seperately on the AC input side.

In this configuration, your critical loads will be shown as such, and connected to AC1-out of the multi.

Your non-critical loads will be shown as AC loads, and will be unpowered if the grid is down. This will be calculated as the difference between the reading of the AC solar production, and the grid energy meter export/import.

Your AC Solar will be shown seperately to the non-critical AC loads.

If you make any changes, please report back with your results.

Unfortunately, I need the loads on AC out only as Quattro acts as a transfer switch between 20 KVA Generator and grid .

I will check with Izak if some dbus magic will allow it to be recognized as load meter .

Good Day,

I know this is an old thread but can I ask were is your Energy meter installed ? on the AC-INPUT to the Inverter or on the AC-OUTPUT to the loads?
