I need to extend the USB power supply and HDMI cables for the GX Touch 50. I was advised to run 16/2 wire to the fuse box and install a USB charger on the other end to connect the Touch 50 USB power supply.
Question: Should I use the Blue Sea PN 1045 (4.8A) intelligent charger or the Blue Sea PN 1016 (2.1A) charger? I don’t know how many amps are needed to power the Touch 50.
A 2.1A USB power supply will be more than enough.
The GX device only provides 500 mA via the USB ports, and that is sufficient to drive the screen.
I have used 10 foot USB and HDMI extension cables plugged directly into the Cerbo and then into the GX Touch 50 with no issues. How far do you need to move the touch 50 from the Cerbo? An extension cable should work fine (within reason) and then you wouldn’t need to add a usb charger.
