i am trying to connect a EM540 energy meter to a Cerbo GX but i cant get it to show up under energy meters, and there are unexpected things happening on the RS485 bus.
With no meter connected, i am getting bursts of many frames with around 10ms between frames, and many seconds between bursts, which is strange. There is no time for a device to reply. The data itself is sensible, it tries to read register 0x000B (model ID) from adresses 01 and 02 alternatingly.
With the meter connected, the meter replies with correct data (0x06E0, EM540DINAV23XS1X) but most of the time, as the master sends out data at such a rapid rate, there is just a collision.
Any ideas on what is going wrong here?

USB/RS485 device is a supposedly original (bought at a Victron dealer) FT232R-based cable.
