Batery Protect 220A

img-20220712-114618.jpgHardware information required.

I understand, the BP is a intelligent FET switch, basically a uniderictional SSR, right? Does it has a reverse bypass diode inside, so the charge current would pass without to be interrupted and also to protect the FETs on reverse polarity, or does it act as a diode and block reverse current (until it breaks).

Any insights of what reverse currents are acceptable (ratings of the bypass) or not (break-through voltage difference) would be appreciated. Nothing found in the datasheet about the limitations except the asterisk note, it is unidirectional. As an Engineer quite frustrating not knowing the exact function and the limits.

Can two BP be connected anti-parallel to each other interrupting a line and controlling charge and discharge direction separately (would work if there is no bypass diode inside and if they effectively block reverse currents without getting damaged)?

Thanks a lot

The asterisk says:
"The BatteryProtect is not designed for reverse currents from charging sources"

Also the manual says:
"The SBP is designed to allow current to flow from IN (battery) to OUT (load) terminals only. Reverse currents from OUT to IN terminals are strictly forbidden, and will damage the device."

Wonder why Victron isn't protecting the battery protect by a argo FET diode on the output to effectively block reverse currents instead of toasting the unit. It doesn't make sense to accept / risk a pass trough short on a device designed to protect a battery. You won't notice when it is toast and hope it is working properly when it is needed.
