MultiPlus II - External AC protection/surge required? (EMS -Like Progressive Industries)

Hi,

Does MultiPlus II "requires" additional AC feed (input) protection for shore?

I am thinking of additional breakers and/or EMS like Progressive Industries that protect against open/short, surge, under-voltage, etc, etc.

I see most design connecting the shore inlet directly to the MultiPlus but I see so many things that could go wrong, not to mention someone with bad intentions trying to "fry" an inverter from the outside.

Any input greatly appreciated.

Thanks

You should be mostly concerned about over-voltage and lightning protection. A protection against brown-outs may be an option if you expect the supply to be unstable and have uninterrupted shore power (but your MP II acts as a UPS anyway), but otherwise it won't be worth the effort.
