Charging too much?

I have a Victron Orion-Tr smart Isolated DC-DC 12/12 V 18 A charger. I see that is charges as high as 21 amps. Is this normal? Also in the settings I cannot set Absorption below 1 hr. Is that normal?

They can go over the rated amperage for short periods. You should also consider power.

Yes min absorption is 1 hour.

@DC4me

VictronConnect v5.59 contains a new firmware (v1.08) for the Orion smart which allows for minimum absorption time 0h when fixed absorption time is selected or 30 minutes with adaptive absorption time selected.

Make sure you have VictronConnect up to date and then the new firmware should install on your Orion smart up on next connection.

I have firmware v1.06 and when I try to update it says I have the latest version. How do I get to v1.08?

Victron Connect v5.70beta1 is what you are looking for.

Beta version might not be 100% stable, use at your own risk.
