Has anyone found a way to stop the VE direct plugs dropping off - they seem quite weak compared with other connections on my boat electrics and electronics.

When I was dealing with these kinds of connectors in a commercial environment, we would use a small drop of non-flowable RTV (silicone) about the size of a grain of rice to hold them together. Just enough to hold the connector together, not so much that you couldn't easily pull the connector apart later when needed.
