Can I Use 80V PV to charge 12V battery?

I have 2 solar panels with 36V and 330W each. Both were connected to give about 80Voc powering dc pump. Since most off the time these PV are not in use, I want to tap and charge my 12V battery via charge controller. Now my question is it safe to use the PV with 80V to charge 12V battery? If possible, which charge controller should I use?

In principle, yes.

What's missing from you is the max charge rate for the battery.

Victron controller model names give 2 numbers, the first is max panel voltage, second is output current.

As long as voltage is reasonably higher than the panels, (e.g. 100) and output current is at or below the charge the battery can take, you're good to go. Panels will generate up to about 50A into the battery, but a lower output charger will just keep that down without damage.

You can, but it must be a MPPT solar charger (not a PWM solar charger).

If you leave the PV panels in series, then the MPPT solar charger also must be able to take that 80Voc (with some margin to account for higher voltage during very cold weather). So do not get a 75/xx charger. Get either a 100/xx or a 150/xx Smart Solar charger.

You might have to limit the maximum charge current, depending on what 12V battery you have (type and capacity).
