I understand that big inverters can cause a big rush of current from lithium banks if the capacitors are not charged. Does the multiplus units have some system to prevent this or should one install a pre charge circuit between battery and multiplus?

The MultiPlus does not have any sort of pre charging built in. You'll need to do the pre charging externally.
