GFCI cords on Multiplus-II

There's some discussion on the internet about the actual utility/protection offered by putting a GFCI on the 120VAC outputs of the Multiplus-II. Can anyone clarify?

GFCIs are used to protect people from fatal shocks if there are system faults, especially in wet environments like bathrooms, kitchens, garages and decks. In the US, the National Electrical Code as well as state, regional and local authorities all contribute to when GFCIs are mandated. The outputs of a Multiplus is really no different than the incoming power grid in this regard. The Multi does not add any suitable protection on it's own.
