Can two 100A autotransformers be connected in parallel for a 200A split phase output?

Hi VE Experts,
Can two 100A autotransformers be connected in parallel for a 200A split phase output? The system will have two Quattro 15000 240V units. This is for a 240/120V, 50Hz system so we cannot use two 120V Quatto units in parallel as the 120V is only for 60Hz output.

Thanks,

Lalith

Hi @lalith, welcome to the Community!

A 120V/60Hz unit can be programmed through VE.Config or VictronConnect to output 50Hz instead of 60Hz, so that would likely be your simplest solution - use 2 120V Quattros in parallel split-phase configuration (as you surmised) and programmed to output 50Hz instead of 60Hz.

Hi Justin, thank you for the reply! Thanks for confirming the 120V/60Hz units can be programmed to output 50Hz. Do you know if there's a derate?

We were looking at using an Autotransformer as we wanted to use two Quattro 48/15000 units. However, the largest 120V is the 48/10000 so we may have to look at a different product as using 6 x 48/5000 units is a lot more expensive.

Thanks again.

I have the same question, however for different reasons. Can they be paralleled for 200A split phase (60Hz, US)? I just need the additional power and plan on two 15kW 240V units for the added power capacity.

30kW/240V= 125A, which exceeds the 100A rating of the autotransformer (even when the load is perfectly balanced)
