I am installing a solar off grid system using a multiplus and smartsolar charger. Is the cerbo gx required for the system? or the system can run smoothly without it?

Cerbo GX required?
It's not required, but if you add a Cerbo GX you get access to many more options (such as VRM monitoring, DVCC, etc.).
It can be added later, if you want.
Also, depending on the battery you will use, you can add a SmartShunt.
