Can I cut the connector off a VE Direct Cable and splice it back on?

I plan to splice the cable using these connectors typically for splicing telephone cable pairs.

Technically it is possible.
However, it is not advisable to do this because then the whole cable goes into the realm of DIY cables. The trouble with the DIY cables is that if anything strange starts to happen, some inexplicable errors start to creep in then it is very difficult to diagnose and often people don't think the cable could be the problem.

I've built data cables before and understand some of the problems but don't have much choice as the cable with the connector won't fit through the duct.
